The Journey 3 and Madeira Walking Football Club (MWF)

After our first ever participation in a tournament in February 2022, the fitness and ability of our players shows great improvement on a weekly basis, the “warm downs” at the Taberna Poncha Bar enables everyone to socialise afterwards, I feel very fortunate to have a group of people who get on so well together.
In March 2022 we had our first MWF dinner at Indian Palace, Funchal, a great evening so enjoyed by the players, their partners and friends with over 30 attending, thank you to Sajjad Khan (one of our sponsors) for hosting the event.
In April 2022 Kate Curley hosted a MWF Fundraising event at her and Steve’s Villa in Ponta do Sol, a curry/quiz afternoon and evening. The food was great and the quiz went down very well, the raffle prizes donated enabled the club to raise much needed funds for MWF.
Then a bombshell, Michael Pernold, one of our members, offered his yacht up for auction, “one day on his yacht for seven people” moored at Calheta Marina. The bidding was frenetic, thanks to Steve Ollerhead, (the auctioneer), the bidding went over and above what anyone thought it would achieve. Congratulations (especially to Marianne) and Rod Cullen in giving their family the chance to experience this when they next visit Madeira.
