Walking Football … A New Way Towards Health and Fitness
Even before the start of the new school year, today the USRB and the Madeira Walking Football Association took the first steps to jointly develop this modality aimed at the mobility of my elders, in the council of Ribeira Brava and the autonomous region of Madeira.
Founded in the UK in 2011, Walking Football has enjoyed overwhelming success, with around 1,200 clubs across the country.
When ex-pat Phill Bellamy moved to Madeira in November 2020, with the idea of joining a local Walking Football team, he discovered, along with his friends Wil de Jong and Don Amaro, that if they wanted they had to introduce the sport to the island and establish a Walking Football Club.
